Good Egg Award

GOOD EGG AWARD

Thank you for taking a plain egg like me
coloring my life with personality
You stayed beside me during times
that I cried
Kept me from cracking
when I felt scrambled or fried
Put up with my squawking when I
threw a fit
Helped me break out of my shell
when I wanted to quit
Always came through with a favor
when asked it
You're a really good egg...
the best in the basket!

With Easter right around the corner, I thought
it would be nice to share my poem “Good Egg
Award”.

I have so many friends that had put up with my
on again, off again, less than desirable attitude
over the years. Needless to say, I was thinking
of them when I wrote it.

Hope you enjoy it.

This is one poem that I don’t mind if you use
in making a greeting card for Easter. While
I am usually protective of my copyright, this
one has a short shelf life.

Make sure you stop by again in a few days!
Will be posting my “Just Like A Mom” poem.

Angel Collector

ANGEL COLLECTOR POEM

There is something about angels
That brings me such joy
It must be the miracles
They sometimes employ
Because they are messengers
From our Lord above
When I'm surrounded by angels
I feel surrounded by love
So I keep on collecting
My angels each day
Praying that they will keep me
Out of harm's way

Are you an Angel Collector?

I love collecting angels. Have done so for years
and years. I collect every kind imaginable.
They give me comfort and strength, even though
they are only made of plastic, metal, or cloth.
Angel T- Shirts, Christmas ornaments, dolls,
knick knacks, paintings, jewelry. You name it,
and I have it in my collection.

It was just a little ceramic angel given to me
during the first Christmas without my husband
that started my collection. It grew from there
and took on a life of it’s own.

I love giving an Elegance Angel to fellow
collectors!

I also find it is the most appropriate gift to give
over the holidays, to someone who lost a family
member or friend, with an attached memorial
poem.

Let’s face it…the first set of holidays are
always very hard when you are in mourning.
Everyone around you seems to be enjoying
the holidays, and sometime you get annoyed
with all the merriment surrounding you.

Giving this is a nice way to say you understand
their grief and that you are thinking of them.

All those years ago when I couldn’t believe that
the world continued to spin on it’s axis without
my loved one in it - it helped to know that
someone validated my profound feelings of loss.

Pet Memorials

THEY MAY BE GONE, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

In Loving Memory - My Beloved Pet

Your time on earth has reached an end
Our home will never be the same
For memories of you greeting me
Will always linger and remain
Your napping spot, your feeding bowl
Your toys are all still scattered
Your life on earth as my best friend
Tells the world how much you mattered
And now my dear beloved pet
One last command I send
Please wait for me in heaven
As my eternal friend

It's so hard to walk through the doors
of the house after our pet dies. They
were part of our family. Sometimes
they are our sole companion.

You've had to put them to sleep, more
than likely to end their pain. You know
they aren't suffering anymore, but you
wonder if you made the right decision.

Well meaning folks suggest getting
another pet, but you know he/she can
never be replaced. There will never be
another like the animal you just loved.

But given time, you realize you miss
the interaction, the company, and the
unconditional love of your dog or cat.

For me, it's missing what I call "Kitty
Love", the whiskers tickling my face,
the snuggling during a nap, the
pouncing on my newspaper when I
was trying to read. Even missing the
way they circled my legs while I went
to fill their food bowls, sure they were
going to trip me up and make me fall
one day. (but they never did).

My Foster and My Magic, they are
both gone, but never, ever, forgotten!

Memorial Poem

We will remember them always!

Memorial Poem

Seeing an angel always reminds me
That although you aren't here
You're being embraced by angels
So there is not a thing to fear
And someday I shall see you again
With a smile upon your face
Because this is what God has promised
Once I leave this earthly place

================================

I’ve seen a lot of my loved ones pass away
over the years. My dad, back in ’71, when
I was 15. My husband Donald back in ’84,
when he was only 31. Then my Mom in ’02.
Many friends and relatives in between.

Death is a sad fact of life, though it doesn’t
make it any easier to let go.

We mourn and somehow we go on. We hold
them in our hearts, have our memories, and
always the hope that we shall see them again.

To view my Memorial Page dedications, go to:
http://www.poetrybyhardy.com/memory.html

The first one on the page was written for my
mother. The rest are some custom ordered
memorials for customers. Since the page would
be very slow to load if I listed all of them, I do
limit 5 memorials on the page at any given time.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Our grief is not always from the loss of a
human. Many of us have beloved pets that
took a little chunk of our hearts with them
when they made their exit.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for
my Pet Memorial Poem.

MOM ANGEL

Going to start out posting with one of my poems in
the family and friends category.

Today's poem is for none other than "Mom".

ANGEL OF A MOM

A miracle had happened
On the day I was conceived
And the Lord continued blessing me
With the mother I received

He gave me one that always knew
My innermost soul and being
And all the time while growing up
I could swear that she had wings

So thank you Mom for being you
And for giving life to me
I always will be grateful
That I'm in your family tree

INTRODUCTION

Seems as though I've been writing since
I could pick up a pencil. I've been waiting my
whole life to write that best selling novel that
every author dreams about.

And who knows...I just might surprise myself
one day and really sit down and start!

But for now, I get immense pleasure from
writing poetry for the angels.

I love designing the angel around the poetic
themes. Nothing brings more pleasure than
seeing a plain angel come to life (so to speak)
before my eyes.

The wedding and the new baby angels are
probably some of my favorites to make.

There is something about putting on the lacy
veil and making a bouquet, placing a ring and
a dove on the angel, getting her ready to
make a cherished remembrance for the bride.

And babies? Oh baby! I love doing them!
Swaddling a small baby in a blanket and then
attaching all those little things that are part
and parcel of raising a precious soul.
A remembrance for every mother and mother
to-be of the life she has brought to this world.

A lot of love and dedication goes into every
angel, and into every poem that I write.

I hope you will see, in every poem that I post
here, that I put my best into each one.

It is my hope that you will laugh, cry, snicker,
snort, shed a tear....whatever the reaction to
each one. And I would sincerely love if you
would provide feedback and suggestions for
new poems I haven't yet thought of.
I'll be posting just about every day.
Until tomorrow........
